Responsibilities

  • Monitor the installed safety devices for emergency readiness.
  • Ensure the safety, security and comfort of all guests, hotel personnel and property in and around the hotel.
  • Manage the work of supervisors and outsourced staff; Make schedules according to local legislation requirement and business needs.
  • Review and update on a regular basis with written procedures for handling any emergency that would require partial or complete evacuation of the hotel such as fire, armed robbery, severe injuries, power failure, or bomb threats.
  • Develop, maintain, and update all emergency / fire procedures and preventive safety / security programs. Ensure that all employees are fully conversant with all the above.
  • Be fully responsible for the implementation of all company life safety procedures.
  • Work with Director of Facility Management to ensure the functions of all alarm systems and firefighting equipment. Conduct a full evacuation/fire alarm checking as per the local legislation.
  • Implement a comprehensive elevator emergency procedure and initiate trainings on emergency release procedures with the elevator manufacturer’s agent.
  • Minimize the amount of theft and shrinkage within the hotel by active visual observation of hotel entrances, directly or through closed circuit television and any other related measures.
  • Improve safety and security at the hotel by communicating hazards with all departments and taking appropriate corrective action.
  • Support development, management of Risk Management Plan.
  • Ensure Security staff has valid license issue from SPF and comply with the relevant government advisory and bodies.
  • Leads and motivates team; support the people agenda in recruitment, training and mentoring, learning and development as well as reviewing team members’ performance.
  • To manage outsourced security agencies.
  • To handle emergency incidents.
  • To manage Budget planning and cost control experience.
  • Other ad-hoc assignments and projects as needed

 

Being the appointed Fire Safety Manager (FSM) for the Property covering the following duties:

  • Ensure that fire safety requirements contained in the Fire Emergency Plan are complied with at all times.
  • Supervise the maintenance of all fire safety works in the premises.
  • Ensure that the occupant load of any part of any building does not exceed the capacity prescribed under the Fire Code at all times.
  • Conduct daily checks within the premises and remove or cause to be removed any fire hazard that is found within the premises.
  • Prepare a Fire Emergency Plan for the premises and conduct fire drills for the occupants therein annually or on such occasion as may be directed by the Commissioner.
  • Ensure that all occupants are familiar with the means of escape located within the premises.
  • Prepare fire safety guidebooks for the occupants of the premises.
  • Train the occupants in the premises in first aid, firefighting and evacuation in the event of fire.
  • Co-ordinate and supervise the occupants within the premises in firefighting and in evacuation in the event of fire or other emergencies.
  • Supervise the operation of the Fire Command Centre in the event of fire or other emergencies.
  • Conduct at least 2 Tabletop Exercises within the premises each year and evaluate, together with the Fire Safety Committee, the effectiveness of the Arson Prevention Plan and the Fire Emergency Plan for those premises.
  • Prepare and implement the Arson Prevention Plan for the premises.
  • Notify the Commissioner immediately upon the occurrence of any fire incident in the premises.
  • Organise campaigns, training courses, competitions, contests and other activities which will develop and maintain the interest of the occupants within the premises in establishing a fire safe environment

 

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Security Management, Hospitality Management, Criminal Justice, Business Management or related discipline.
  • Professional certifications in security or risk management are advantageous.
  • FSM (Fire Safety Manager) certification (mandatory if appointed as the hotel’s FSM).
  • First Aid, CPR and AED certification preferred.
  • WSQ or relevant Workplace Safety qualifications are advantageous.Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and train staff.
  • Experience with scheduling and labor cost management.
  • Proficient in computer skills, including MS Office and restaurant POS systems
  • Good command of written and spoken English.
  • Passionate and enthusiastic with a positive ‘can-do’ attitude.
